TMNT: Good triumphs over evil but movie is dark, aggressive & kind of creepy (at times)
By Nicky Vanvalkenburgh
Here is a riddle for you. What’s green, wears a mask, never leaves home without a shell, and uses martial arts to fight? It’s those heroes in a half shell—Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael — better known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Evidently, they started out as tiny turtles, but mutated to human-size after contact with mysterious, radioactive green stuff called Ooze. Now they walk upright, talk like teenagers, and eat pizza.
Life couldn’t be better for the Turtles, until “Bad Guy” Max Winters tries to take over. Mad Max has an army of ancient monsters, and wants to take over the world. It’s up to the Turtles to restore order, unity and ninja discipline.
This movie is dark, aggressive and kind of creepy at times. Good triumphs over evil, but it takes lots of ninja chops, whacks and kicks to make it happen. If you like that type of thing, TMNT is for you. Another plus is that the TMNT are talented pop musicians, so they can rock the house while they're cracking a crime wave.
