Sealed with a kiss:
It's chemistry and electricity that fuels your passion!

By Nicky VanValkenburgh

Have you ever wondered why kissing is such a powerful emotional and physical experience? Scientifically, the magical connection that you feel is really a matter of chemistry and electricity. And understanding the "science" behind kissing can make things even more exciting!

Most people automatically close their eyes while kissing. When we close our eyes, we shut off all visual stimulation and focus on what's really important-- the physical and emotional sensations of kissing. And what a powerful experience this is!

In the moment, we might say, "There is good chemistry between us!" This is literally true! Kissing is a powerful biochemical experience. There are "feel-good" endorphins running through your veins, such as dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. Emotionally, you feel euphoric or excited. Or maybe you have a happy, blissful feeling-- knowing that you've emotionally connected to this person.

In addition to chemistry, there is also electricity involved. Your brain has more than 100 billion brain cells, or neurons. They're electrical impulses that bounce around in your body like balls in a pinball machine. These electrical impulses control the way you think, feel, act and move.

Your brain's "electricity" goes hand-in-hand with your body's chemical experience. You see, it's the electricity in your body that signals your brain to release it's chemicals ("feel-good" endorphins,) so that we experience emotions. And this includes romantic feelings.

It's no wonder that kissing is almost a magical experience! There is chemistry and electricity involved, and this understanding reveals what an amazing brain we have. The next time you kiss someone, take a moment to notice your physical and emotional sensations. Your "moment of passion" is living proof of the mind-body connection.how to kiss
